Good Union Urban BBQ, located in the vibrant Richardson CityLine area, is a must-visit barbecue restaurant that perfectly captures the spirit of Texas smokehouse dining with a modern twist. From the moment you step inside or settle into their inviting outdoor seating area, you’re enveloped by a laidback and welcoming atmosphere that invites you to relax and savor every bite.
Their menu is a celebration of authentic smoked flavors and hearty, satisfying dishes that will delight barbecue enthusiasts and casual diners alike. Standouts include the Prime Sliced Brisket Sandwich, served on a perfectly toasted brioche bun with just the right balance of smoky tenderness and rich, savory juices. The brisket’s melt-in-your-mouth texture combined with the soft bun and pickled onions creates a harmony of flavors that is simply unforgettable. If ribs are your passion, their Spare Ribs offer a beautiful char with a juicy interior that falls off the bone, while the Brisket Nachos elevate classic comfort food with smoky beef, creamy queso, and crunchy chips.
For those who appreciate variety, the smokehouse sandwiches are crafted with care—from the backyard chicken sandwich that delivers a juicy, flavorful punch to the prime burnt ends sandwich, each served on toasted brioche with fresh onion and pickles. The Loaded Baked Potato, topped with cheddar, bacon, butter, sour cream, and chives, is a decadent side or meal in itself, with an option to add your favorite smoked meat for a hearty upgrade.
Sides here are not just afterthoughts but indulgent companions to each entrée; think crispy Fried Okra, creamy slaw, savory smokehouse beans, and golden, perfectly seasoned Shoestring Fries that one reviewer so rightly noted could be a meal on their own. The Queso & Chips add a warm, cheesy dip that balances Tex-Mex flavors with authentic barbecue flair.
Drinks at Good Union Urban BBQ are thoughtfully curated to complement the smoky fare. From classic Southern staples like iced tea to inventive cocktails such as the Moscow Mule, the drinks menu is crafted with both tradition and creativity in mind. Reviewers rave about the bar experience, with bartenders like Jackie serving up friendly vibes and strong, expertly mixed old fashioneds that elevate the meal even further.

One visitor fondly recalled savoring the Pig Mountain Sandwich, awarded five stars for its memorable blend of flavors, while another highlighted the Lady Bird Salad’s unexpected but delightful combination of chicken, mango, and cheese—a lighter option that doesn’t sacrifice taste. It’s clear that no matter your preference, Good Union Urban BBQ offers a diverse menu capable of thrilling every palate.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through Richardson, this smokehouse promises authenticity, great flavors, and an atmosphere where good times—and great food—are always on the menu.
I got the sliced brisket sandwich, cole slaw, and a soda. The brisket and bun had a great flavor. However, the cole slaw was pretty bland. I liked how they served Maine Root soda instead of your typical brands. I also had an old fashioned from the bartend, Jackie. She was very friendly and served up a strong drink. The outside sitting area was very pleasant.
I had the sliced Prime Brisket Sandwich with skinny fries. The brisket was perfect and inhaled my sandwich. The fries were so good I could make a meal out of just them! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something another meat... and more skinny fries!
This is our first time at Good Union, but it won't be our last, for sure! The food was spectacular. I got the Pig Mountain Sandwich (5 Stars in my book), and my wife ordered the Lady Bird Salad. She loved the taste of the chicken, as well as the combination of mango and cheese. The owner took our order, and he said we were going to love it; he was right. We were there during the Texas/OU game, so the ambiance was great! We’re definitely coming back.
I absolutely love this place. Its in cityline(Richardson) a nice new development. They have amazing people and amazing food from the burgers to the Cornbread and real butter melted on top...If you haven't been here you are missing out on a Texas Treasure. They have plenty of seating, a bar and plenty of TV screens to watch your favorite sports. I highly recommend this place hands down one of my favorites and its not even close... PS they also offer military discount.
I love the ambiance at Good Union! It’s very laid-back and a great view of a beautiful courtyard that’s now decorated for the holidays. The service is always good and staff is friendly. We dined here yesterday evening for Happy Hour. The drinks were on point and bartender was cool. We ordered the brisket street tacos and brisket sliders with potato salad and fried okra. The food is ok, and the prices were very reasonable. On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best, 1 the worst, I’ll give the food a 3.5. We will return in the future but will try something different on the menu. Sorry, no pics.
This was a complete roulette wheel pick since I literally just searched "Bbq near me". I usually don't take many photos to go with my reviews, but I had to get the before & after of the limited-time turkey leg. Hard to find outside of Fairs & Fests. We ordered a chopped brisket sandwich, a burnt ends sandwich, fries, onion rings & the turkey leg. That with two drinks came out to ~$50, so not too bad when it comes to bbq prices. The food was excellent! The portions were great and it was on par with my usual BBQ go-to Rudy's. I'm glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem because I hated having to drive to Allen to get a good BBQ sandwich. I don't like Ten50, Dickey's is really hit or miss after lunchtime, I've never enjoyed Sonny Bryan's, Lockhart can be pricey, and don't even suggest Spring Creek to me. So if your tastes align with mine after reading that list, you'll love this place. A couple of "warnings": -they only have craft sodas at the fountain if that matters to you. -the meat is the star, smoked smoked smoked! -the BBQ sauce is tasty and subtly sweet, just the way I like it - compliments the meat without punching you in the tastebuds. -fries are addictive! I didn't even need ketchup -onion rings were delicious and not at all greasy; the ranch that they came with was also top-notch. We're very much looking forward to returning with friends & family and trying other items on the menu, but I will fight for my own turkey leg this time...back off!
I was looking for a tasty BBQ lunch, and a few places popped up on my search. But, I sure am glad I decided to swing by Good Union! Excellent staff that was able to guide me through my selection. A clean atmosphere, open space both inside and out, great views, and fantastic drink selection. Definitely give this place a shot. You won't be disappointed !
